About C.O.C.M.
Cleveland Orthodox Christian Missions was "founded" in April 2003 by a small group of Orthodox Christians who were interested in helping our local monasteries raise funds for their humanitarian efforts. At the time, Cleveland was blessed with two Eastern Orthodox monastic communities, namely St. Herman Monastery in Ohio City and St. Mary of Egypt Monastery in Tremont. Today, these organizations continue their charitable outreach as laity-based mission centers, as well as ZOE For Life! and St. Panteleimon Outreach.
Outside of the philanthropic work of individual parishes, these four non-profit groups comprise the heart of Eastern Orthodox Christian charitable outreach ministries in the Greater Cleveland area, and offer Orthodox Christians in Northeast Ohio an opportunity to volunteer and help those in need.
While the original C.O.C.M. was established to hold joint fundraisers (including an annual Benefit Breakfast) to provide financial support to faith-based organizations like these, this online "revitalization" of the C.O.C.M. name serves the sole purpose of bringing awareness to the existence of these charities, in hopes that you will "see [their] good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).
You are encouraged to visit their websites, learn about who they are and what they do, and offer your stewardship--your gifts of time, talent, and treasure--to assist their efforts. "Give, and it will be given to you." (Luke 6:38)
